Kids’ Konnections

The Summit Center for Learning presents … KIDS’ KONNECTIONS®

These small group friendship circles focus on social problem solving and teach the foundation of relationships through learning the “Unwritten Rules of Friendship”. Our aim is to help children who do not have appropriate social skills to function optimally in their peer group environment. Some skills covered in the weekly workshops are:

■ How to listen and ask questions
■ How to start conversations
■ How to deal with anger
■ How to negotiate and compromise
■ How to deal with bullies
■ How to initiate and maintain friendships
■ How to resolve conflicts
■ How to use relaxation techniques

Social skills groups have been meeting at The Summit Center for Learning for more than two decades. Each group is small and meets in an informal, comfortable setting. Groups meet once a week for one hour and are on-going. The workshops are conducted by KIDS’ KONNECTIONS® certified facilitators who have had on-going training in the proprietary methods used in the program. Topics are research-based and are taught in a variety of ways including:

■ Direct teaching
■ Role-playing
■ Positive behavior modification
■ Video taping with instant replay
■ Game playing & crafts
■ Special simulations
■ Parent meetings
